Varsity College Port Elizabeth hosted annual Ladies to Legends event

Port Elizabeth - The IIE’s Varsity College Port Elizabeth recently hosted its annual Ladies to Legends event aimed at educating and empowering young girls and women.

Ladies to Legends resonates the belief that, when one empowers and educates young girls and women on important matters, they could become instrumental to economic growth and social change.

Michelle Brown (Owner Brown’s PR) led panellists Kelly Adams (Beauty, fashion and lifestyle blogger), Oumi Kulthum (Owner Demiguard - a budding translation and interpretations company), Tasneem Fredericks (Director of Fredericks Incorporated) and Nombasa Nkonyeni (Social Worker) on thought provoking topics such as women and business, women self-worth and living your best life.

The panel had the ladies in attendance captivated, motivated and inspired.

“My highlight was the realisation that any women can become a legend. The empowering speeches and panel discussions of the evening was a reminder to the ladies who attended that we should never feel inferior just because of our gender.

"Us as women need to stand together through everything and support each other. We have the power to create our own success”, said Jessica Springer, IIE Bachelor of Education Foundation Phase student.

Said Louise Wiseman, Managing Director The IIE’s Varsity College: “Self development is important as it allows us to develop our internal drivers and motivators.

"It is these drivers that enable us to become the best version of ourselves. Now in its fifth year, our Ladies to Legends event continues to be a great source of motivation and inspiration for young women who crave self development.”

Ladies in attendance included: The IIE’s Varsity College students and Alumni, Grade 12 scholars, School Teachers and Industry Professionals.

The ladies had the opportunity to network before and after the panel discussion and were treated to finger foods and dessert. All ladies in attendance received goodie bags as a treat in honour for Women’s Day.

The event was sponsored by: MPC Recruitment, Cell C, Coca Cola, Blue Opal, Jenni Gault and Lindt.
