Vehicle registration and licence fees increase in the Western Cape

The George Municipality has advised residents that the Provincial Department of Transport Administration and Licensing send out an official notice to inform the Western Cape of an increase on registration and licence fees for motor vehicles with effect from 1 April 2018.

"Vehicles with an expiry date of 31 March 2018 will be affected. All the new regulations are also effective on the same date in the jurisdiction of the George Municipality," it said.

"Every vehicle has its own (TARE), which is converted into kilogram. This mass determines the amount payable."

For example:

Vehicles between 251 – 500 Tare in kg, the fees applicable under these regulations are R282.00.

Vehicles between 501 – 750 Tare in kg, the fees applicable under these regulations are R300.00. The price escalates with the mass.
