VIDEO: Charities receive donations from the Boardwalk’s Sparkler Project

In December last year, the Boardwalk called out to community members to join them in their annual Sparklers Project, which aims to help raise funds for three charities in Nelson Mandela Bay, namely the Healing Minds Community Centre, Khayalethu Children’s Home and Maranatha.

Guests were invited to light up a sparkler, on sale at the Boardwalk’s retailers, and enjoy the popular water fountain show while singing Christmas carols.

The event raised R9 000 in total, which was distributed to the three beneficiaries.

“We all know that running centres of this nature require a significant amount of funding.

“These organisations rely heavy on the support and donations they receive, and we have no doubt that they will put the money that they receive to good use,” said Mike van Vuuren, General Manager of the Boardwalk Hotel at the handover on Friday.

“On behalf of the Boardwalk, I would like to express our sincere thanks to everyone who supported the Sparkler event and everyone who is here tonight to pay some tribute to these wonderful charities that make a meaningful difference in our communities.”

Each charity was handed a cheque of R3 000.
