VIDEO: Micro-Q Consulting’s Gerrit Gerber warns local businesses over ISO 9001:2015

The implementation of new ISO 9001 standards kicked off in 2015 and registered companies must complete re-certification by 2018 to the new standard or risk losing their ISO 9001 certification altogether, warns local expert, Gerrit Gerber.

Gerber is the CEO of Port Elizabeth-based Micro-Q Consulting.

The company offers businesses affordable solutions in implementing or improving Health and Safety Management Systems; implementing ISO9001-based Quality Management System; in auditing or improving ISO Quality Management Systems as well as in training staff in Systems, Auditing, Health, Safety and Quality management.

According to Gerber, all certificates connected to the 2008 edition of ISO 9001 will expire and become invalid in September 2018 - which may seem like a long way off, but when considering the time it takes to schedule, prepare, and conduct a third-party certification audit, companies need to act now.

Without a doubt, loss of certification can have a significant negative impact on a business’ reputation as supply chain partners will require a valid ISO 9001 certificate.

The good news though is that, with expert assistance, getting onto ISO 9001:2015 is very easy.
