VP High School pupil wins VW Design a Kombi competition

Victoria Park High School pupil, Luke Henneberry (17), was pleasantly surprised when it was announced on Thursday that his design won the Volkswagen Design a Kombi competition.

The Volkswagen competition was launched earlier this year and required entrants to create a design for a Kombi with the theme of camping in mind.

Over 900 entries were received from learners at Junior Schools, High Schools and in the open category. All entrants had to follow the ‘Campout Kombi’ brief.

The winners design was printed on the customer service vehicle and unveiled at a special prize giving on Thursday at the VW Audi showrooms. The winner also received a cash prize of R18,000.

The excited Henneberry said; “My design teacher told me to enter the competition. I was completely shocked when I found out I had won and I’m very happy to have my design on the Kombi”.

Finalists of the competition included Kaylene Govender (14) and Penny Van Jarsveld (14) both from Pearson High School. Tasnim Hossain(13) from Erica Girls High, as well as the youngest finalists Anna Young (12) and Shani Bruwer (10), both from Clarendon Park Primary school.

In the open category finalists were - Cindy Nilsen(40) and Cornelius Nilsen (74).
