Walmer man appears in court for robberies at local retirement village

A 31-year-old Walmer man appeared in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate's Court on Friday facing three separate charges of house robbery allegedly committed at a local retirement village in November.

"Detectives from the Mount Road Cluster Trio Task Team arrested, Thembelani Ntantiso, on Wednesday, at the Port Elizabeth Magistrate's Court building while he was there to allegedly pay bail for a family member," described police spokesperson, Col Priscilla Naidu.

"Walmer police received information about the suspect’s whereabouts and alerted the detective officers."

She said that Ntantiso was detained and charged for three house robbery cases.

The case was remanded to Monday for a bail application.
