Water restrictions to remain for at least the next two months: George Municipality

The George Municipality on Wednesday said that despite a rise in the Garden Route Dam, residents can expect water restrictions to remain in place for at least the next two months.

"Please note Section 2C water restrictions and emergency tariffs remain in place in George for at least two months following the rise of the Garden Route Dam to above 45% (when 2C restrictions start applying according to the Drought Management Plan), provided the conditions consistently remain above the Section 2C requirements and the town’s immediate water security remains satisfactory," explained Athane Scholtz, at the municipality.

"Even if the Section 2C tariffs are lifted, Section 2B restrictions will be applicable up to the 60% dam level mark, again for at least two months thereafter.

"Other considerations include the potential impact of the summer holiday season on water usage."
