Water situation: Churchill Dam draining fast - now just 19% full

Good rains must fall in the Bay's catchment areas - and they must fall now. The average water level in the five dams supplying the Nelson Mandela Bay is hovering just above 40%. 

According to figures released on Monday by the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality, the Metro's reservoirs, which started the year at an average 100% full, are currently at around 43.11% full.

Currently, the biggest drop has been witnessed at the Churchill Dam, which was virtually full at the start of the year, but now stands at a low 19.06% full. Last week Thursday, the dam was 19.73% full.
