Willowvale police, with the assistance of residents, arrested a 32-year-old man for alleged murder of a 39-year-old man.

"It is alleged that the 39-year-old  man was walking with a lady on Saturday, at about 14:30, at Lubhongo Locality, Rhamra Village, Willowvale," Capt Jackson Manatha.

"The two came across the 32-year-old man, who demanded to speak to the lady. The lady refused to speak to him.

"The 32-year-old man drew his knife and fatally stabbed the 39-year-old man."

Suspect apprehended by community after murder

"It is not clear at this point in time if the deceased was the boyfriend to the lady," added Capt Manatha.

"It is also not known if the suspect was the boyfriend of the lady."

He said that members of the community chased the suspect and caught him.

"Police were called and they rushed to the scene. The suspect was handed over to the Willowvale police and has been charged with murder."

Butterworth Cluster Commander, Brigadier Ngangema Xakavu, thanked the community for their continued assistance in the fight against crime as the community did not take the law into their arms.

"The suspect is due to appear before the Willowvale Magistrate Court on Monday on a murder charge."
