Windy wet weekend expected for Eastern Cape

Port Elizabeth - Friday will see isolated showers and thundershowers for the interior moving to the coast in the evening, with severe thunderstorms expected for the Blue Crane Route and Raymond Mhlaba Local Municipalities.

"Strong winds are expected with veld fire conditions for the north-western parts," added the South African Weather Service's Port Elizabeth office.

"Saturday will see isolated showers and thundershowers, which are expected for the northern parts, moving towards the east coast in the evening.

"Sunday - a cold front is expected to make landfall over the province, with strong winds expected along the coast and scattered showers and thundershowers in the west, spreading to the east throughout the day."

The weather office said that Monday will see scattered showers and thundershowers for the entire Eastern Cape, causing heavy rainfall in places.
