Witnesses in Kamesh hit-and-run incident sought by Uitenhage police

Detectives from the South African Police Service in Uitenhage are looking for witnesses that can lead to the arrest of a suspect involved in a hit-and-run incident that led to the death of a 66-year-old man in Kamesh.

According to police spokesperson, Captain Gerda Swart, the 66-year-old, Mzwandile Twani was crossing the road when he was knocked over by a white vehicle, which immediately sped away from the scene. 

Twani, however, passed on at the scene from injuries sustained in the accident.

The only information the police have is that a white vehicle knocked over Twani at about 22:00 on Monday, 3 December 2018, in 24th Avenue, Langa (Kamesh). 

“The police are currently looking for shed light on a case of culpable homicide that is currently under investigation. 

“Anyone, who might have witnessed, or who is able to assist with information about the incident or the whereabouts of the driver, is requested to contact the investigating officer, Detective Warrant Officer Andrew Hoffman on 071 475 1956, SAPS Kamesh Detectives 041 988 8200 or Crime Stop 08600 10111.”

 Captain Swart said that the detectives came to her office today for media coverage.
