Woman and three men die after gunmen enter their home and open fire

Mthatha police have appealed to the public for assistance with information that may lead to the arrest of suspects involved in the killing of a woman and three men all with the estimated age of 27 years.

According to police spokesperson, Captain Dineo Koena, the three were attacked at the old Transnet houses in Napgen Street, in Mthatha, on Wednesday, at about 21h00.

"It is alleged that the deceased were in their house when unknown gunmen entered and randomly fired several shots killing them instantly," she described.

"It is further alleged that other people staying together with the deceased managed to escape through the window unhurt.

"The motive for their killing is yet to be established."

Capt Koena said that four murder cases have been opened.

"Several empty cartridges of a pistol were picked from the scene. No arrest has yet been made and we urge anyone with information to contact D/Lt Colonel Ntshatsha on 0713524737 or may contact our Crime Stop Line on 0860 010111 and the information will be treated as confidential."

The Acting Cluster Commander Colonel Majaja, has described the act as barbaric and brutal.

"We will leave no stone unturned in bringing the perpetrators to book."
