Woman arrested with dagga destined for East London and Port Elizabeth

A 34-year-old woman is expected in court after she was arrested by East London police for dealing in dagga.

According to police spokesperson, W/O Hazel Mqala, she was part of an intelligence-driven operation that followed up on information about the dagga.

"East London Vispol and detectives subsequently arrested the 34-year-old female suspect for possession and dealing in dagga," she said.

"A bag containing dagga with two plastic bags full of dagga was recovered in her possession in Commercial Road, in Arcadia, East London."

According to the information, the dagga was going to be distributed around East London and Port Elizabeth area.

"The total weight of the dagga is 10.95 kg with an estimated street value of R20 000."

The suspect will appear in court the East London Magistrate's Court on Friday.
