Woman kidnapped in Fort Beaufort during house robbery

A case of house robbery and kidnapping is currently under investigation following an incident that took place at Doringkloof near Fort Beaufort.

According to police spokesperson, Captain Khaya Tonjeni, it is alleged that an unknown number of suspects gained access at the farm premises and kidnapped a young woman before fleeing with two farm vehicles and several other items from the home.

"The young lady, who was found unharmed in one of the vehicles is currently receiving trauma counselling," he described.

"The second vehicle and several items have since been recovered."

Forensic investigators still on the scene

Capt Tonjeni said that specialist investigators are still at the scene.

"At this stage no arrests have been made and the SAPS are appealing to community members, who have information that could lead to the arrest and solving of this case to contact Colonel Andrew Middelton on 082 779 7150 or the Crime Stop Number on 0860010111."

He said that all information will be treated with strict confidentiality.
