Phase 4 load shedding will kick in at 16:00 on Wednesday after several generating units failed since last night.
According to Eskom, eight generating units have failed and phase 4 load shedding will last until 05:00 on Thursday after which phase 3 will apply from 05:00 to 16:00. Eskom will later confirm which phases of load shedding will apply thereafter.
Alternating phases of phase 1 and phase 3 load shedding have been in effect since yesterday morning after phase 4 load shedding was introduced before it. However, Eskom had already warned then that the demand for power would increase towards the weekend with cold again predicted for large parts of the country.
