Dewald Brevis and Trent Boult’s good performances mean that MI New York will play the Seattle Orcas in Monday’s final of the Major League Cricket tournament.
The New York cricket team knocked out Faf du Plessis’ Texas Super Kings in the last qualifying match of the American target and smash series.
Boult was at his best with the ball in hand and he got rid of Du Plessis, Devon Conway and Mitchell Santner among others.
David Miller – who went in to bat at number seven – hit two sixes for the Super Kings, but could only last ten deliveries before David Wiese caught him off Tim David’s bowling.
Brevis displayed his fielding prowess and, in addition to his three catches, also ran out Daniel Sams.

The young South African also excelled with the willow bat and his unbeaten 41 runs ensured that MI New York passed the winning target of 159 runs with six wickets standing.
He enjoyed good partnerships with Tim David (33 runs) and Wiese (19 runs).
However, Du Plessis once again did not set the world on fire. He has now been taken out for six runs and he could only score 46 runs in his seven matches at an average of 6.57.
