British royals surprised with photo of youngest prince on birthday

A new photo in which the adorable little British Prince Louis is smiling from ear to ear was released on Tuesday afternoon in celebration of his sixth birthday.

Louis is the youngest child of Prince William and Princess Catherine of Wales. The photo was taken by the princess, who announced last month that she had cancer.

The BBC reports that Kate, as she is widely known, and William, who usually post early morning portrait photos on their children’s birthdays, followed a different route this year.

Unlike previous years, where the photos were sent to the media under embargo the night before, the couple posted this year’s portrait photo much later in the day and directly on their own social media platforms.

Royal fans initially assumed that in light of the princess’s cancer diagnosis and the now-famous Mother’s Day photo, no official photo would be shared today.

This Mother’s Day photo with her three offspring, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, was removed from their systems last month by several news agencies, including Getty, because it did not meet these agencies’ standards for photos due to “editing errors”.

A second photo, where Queen Elizabeth II was photographed by Kate with some of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in 2022, was also removed from Getty shortly afterwards due to “digital changes”.

No mistakes have been spotted in the six-year-old’s birthday portrait photo so far and congratulations have poured in on social media.

RNews recently reported that Prince William resumed his official royal duties last week when he visited a food charity and youth centre.

After his wife’s cancer diagnosis announcement video, which has been viewed more than a hundred million times to date, he disappeared from the public eye for almost a month.

In her video, Kate asked for “time, space and privacy” while she completes her treatment.
