Bulls are three pressure breakers

As far as attacking rugby is concerned, the Bulls could not have asked for a better performance in the United Rugby Championship (WRC).

The team from the city of Jakaranda are the leading three-scorers in the HRC with 85 – one more than Leinster’s previous record.

Jake White’s side were behind their opponents’ goal line 78 times last season.

In terms of points, the Bulls are also the top team with 639 points in their 18 HRC matches.

Johnny Matthews, hooker of the Glasgow Warriors, with his 14 tries, is the leading try-scorer in the tournament.

But the Bulls have a number of players who also know exactly how to fool their opponents’ defence. Akker van der Merwe (12), David Kriel (10), Canan Moodie (9), Kurt-Lee Arendse (8) and Johan Grobbelaar (8) are also among the leading three-scorers.

The Bulls play Benetton in one of the quarter-final matches at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday at 15:30, while the Stormers travel to Scotland for their quarter-final encounter with the Glasgow Warriors.

The matches are broadcast live on SuperSport.

This is how the play-offs for the quarter-finals look like:

  • Friday at 8.35pm – Munster v Ospreys
  • Saturday – Bulls v Benetton at 15:30, Leinster v Ulster at 18:00 and Glasgow Warriors v Stormers at 20:35.
