Cape Town man arrested for running over cyclists

A 27-year-old man will appear in the Simonstad Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday on charges of reckless or negligent driving.

Lt. Col. Malcolm Pojie, spokesperson for the police in the Western Cape, says this follows after a 26-year-old man was injured on Main Road in Glencairn on Thursday.

“According to information, the driver of a Volkswagen Polo hit the victim and drove away. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.”

A video shared on social media shows the two cyclists riding behind each other before a white vehicle rushes by and knocks them over.
