Captain Kolisi joins Red Bull team in pits in Monaco

Everyone knows Siya Kolisi as the South African hero who helped the Springboks to two Rugby World Cup victories.

But this past weekend he was also part of Red Bull’s team in the pits as they prepared for Sunday’s Monaco Grand Prix.

The race in Monaco often attracts a host of celebrities and is considered the jewel of the Formula 1 calendar.

The Springbok captain, who is currently playing rugby in France, shared a video of him at the Monaco Grand Prix in a post on Instagram on Friday afternoon.

However, Kolisi didn’t just watch the action from the pits, he was also enlisted to help.

“No, I’m not ready,” joked Kolisi when he was asked to lend a hand to replace a tire on one of the Red Bull RB20s.

He then helped push one of the cars before the experienced Red Bull team, who regularly change tires during a Grand Prix in less than two seconds, got to work.

Red Bull Racing also shared a video in which Kolisi is seen helping out in a Red Bull Racing overall during practice and watching the official team change the tires on the F1 car in the pits.

“I got the opportunity to push one of the cars and see how the tires are changed. The importance of preparation and teamwork is just as important as in rugby – if one individual makes a mistake, everything is messed up.”
