South Africans who may have been worried that load shedding this weekend could put a damper on their intention to watch the World Cup final between the Springboks and the All Blacks on TV, can breathe a sigh of relief.
Load power remains suspended until at least Sunday afternoon, the power supplier said on Thursday.
Eskom says that thanks to sufficient generation capacity and emergency generation reserves, as well as a lower than expected demand for power this weekend, load shedding will remain suspended until Sunday at 16:00.
The power supplier says it will continuously monitor the situation and later announce the outlook for the rest of the week.
South Africans’ lights have been on non-stop for almost a week now – or around 160 hours.
