Criminal complaint comes against deputy pres.

The DA intends to file a criminal complaint against deputy pres on Monday morning. Introducing Paul Mashatile.

The complaint comes after a series of revelations of alleged fraud and state capture against Mashatile and members of his family. This includes a suspicious government contract that his sons would have received from the Gauteng Department of Infrastructure Development.

The complaint will be laid at the police station in Cape Town on Monday at 10:00.

In early February, the DA sent a so-called dossier and a letter with damning allegations of corruption against Mashatile to Pres. Submitted to Cyril Ramaphosa’s office at the Union Building in Pretoria. “Since the deputy president is appointed by the president, a week ago we sent a dossier to pres. Cyril Ramaphosa, detailing all the allegations against Mashatile,” DA leader John Steenhuisen said on Sunday.

“The first place one usually goes with evidence of criminal offenses is the police – to file a criminal complaint. Anyone who uses the laying of a complaint as a threat in case he does not get some political concession clearly has a political agenda,” Vincent Magwenya, Ramaphosa’s spokesperson, said at the time.

This is exactly what the DA intends to do. “In light of the president’s failure to act, the DA will now take matters into its own hands to get rid of corruption in our country and government.”
