The comedian and DJ Peter “Mashata” Mabuse was shot dead in the early hours of Sunday morning in Soshanguve, north of Pretoria.
Col. Police spokesperson Noxolo Kweza confirmed the killing to RNews.
Kweza says two men, aged 45 and 46 respectively, were driving near the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) in Soshanguve in the early hours of the morning when shots were fired at their vehicle. Mabuse later died in a hospital.
The other man was wounded but survived the attack.
The suspect/s fled and are still being sought. The police are currently following up on all leads, says Kweza.
Anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to contact the police.
Mabuse was also known as a stadium announcer at Mamelodi Sundowns’ home matches.
Meanwhile, condolences are pouring in on social media.
