South Africa’s own UFC champion Dricus “Stillknocks” du Plessis would like to take on Israel Adesanya next in the cage. But he wants to do it on home soil.

The 30-year-old from Pretoria believes the time has come for UFC to come to South Africa.

“If not now, then when?” he asked Good Hope FM radio personality Stan Mars in passing on Friday.

Du Plessis is currently on his title tour in Cape Town and cannot get enough of the support he receives from all over South Africa.

“South Africa, they don’t know what we know… (South Africa) is the most incredible country in the world. From culture to sports… we don’t have to go. We don’t have to go anywhere. We can do it right here. From our home soil.”

Du Plessis is at the V&A waterfront in the Mother City this afternoon until 17:30 as part of his title tour before he will make a visit to the Jakaranda City at Menlyn Maine on Saturday afternoon.

RNews earlier reported that Du Plessis ran amok in the UFC cage a week or two ago when he overpowered USA’s Sean Strickland in the middleweight title fight in Toronto.
