Eastern Cape mother kidnapped

Eastern Cape police detectives are currently looking for a woman from Kariega (Uitenhage) after she was kidnapped outside her home in Moselweg on Wednesday.

They are also looking for four men after they fled early in the morning with Sonam Gajjar (34) in a white Hyundai.

Gajjar is believed to be the wife of a local businessman in Kariega and the mother of two children.

Col. Priscilla Naidu, spokesperson for the police, says Gajjar drove out of the family’s yard at around 07:50 and was waiting for the gate to close behind her when she was attacked by four men.

Gajjar’s car window was smashed on the driver’s side before she was dragged from her car and bundled into the white Hyundai.

“The vehicle sped away in the direction of Motherwell,” says Naidu.

A case of kidnapping has since been filed and a search is underway for Gajjar and the four men.

The police are now appealing to the public to pass on any possible information, “no matter how minor”, to detectives. Report Ricardo January on 072 217 5772 or call the StopCrime number on 08600 10111.
