An investigation continues after the house of a deputy head of the Tshwane emergency services in Doornpoort, in the north of Pretoria, burned almost to the ground this week.
The deputy chief is in charge of the emergency services’ training academy in the city.
Charles Mabaso, spokesperson for the Tshwane emergency services, says the officer reported the fire at 17:23 on Monday.
“Several firefighters were immediately sent to the scene and upon their arrival the house was completely engulfed in flames.

“The largest part of the roof had already collapsed at that stage,” says Mabaso.

The flames were brought under control, but almost the entire house and all its contents were destroyed.
“Only a few items in one of the bedrooms could be saved from the flames.”
No injuries were reported.
