Flight delayed more than hour due to clumsy passenger

A passenger who boarded a flight at the King Shaka Airport in Durban late had to be removed from the plane shortly afterwards by the police after she apparently became completely unruly.

According to CemAir, the woman completely disrupted flight 5Z0329 to Johannesburg.

However, Shamiso Mosaka, a presenter of MTV Base, claims that she did not disrupt the flight and that she was discriminated against.

In a video of the incident that has been shared on social media, police officers can be seen trying to remove Mosaka from the plane.

In the video, Mosaka’s exchange with the police can be heard. She refuses to leave the plane and says she is not disruptive. “You are racist,” she says to the police, after which she insists that another flight be booked for her.

According to Koena Lerotholi, CemAir spokesperson, the passenger – whom she did not identify – boarded the plane late and behaved “disruptively and insultingly”.

“The passenger also refused to comply with lawful instructions from a cabin crew member. The flight captain was called, but was also unable to resolve the situation. After this, the police were called to remove the passenger from the plane,” says Lerotholi.

While the police escorted the woman off the plane, according to CemAir, the passenger broke free and this time apparently tried to get into the cabin. This is a “serious offence” and the police will investigate the incident further.

The airline apologized to other passengers for the delay of around 90 minutes.
