Four shot dead who apparently planned a transit robbery


Four suspected robbers were shot dead by the police in the North West after following up on information about a planned transit robbery.

According to col. Katlego Mogale, police spokesperson, a multidisciplinary team of the police followed up on information about a group of suspects who apparently planned a transit robbery between Gauteng and the North West.

“The information was followed up and the suspects’ vehicle was spotted on the N4 highway. The suspects drove in the direction of Mmakau outside Brits and a high-speed chase and shootout ensued when the suspects realized they were going to be caught.”

The driver of the suspects’ vehicle lost control of the car and crashed into a fence in Mmakau.

“Four suspects, between 30 and 45 years old, were fatally wounded during the shooting and the police seized three unlicensed firearms.”
