German actor, daughters die in plane crash


The German actor Christian Klepser, better known as Christian Oliver, and his two daughters died in a plane crash in the Caribbean on Friday.

The star of the movies Speed ​​​​Racer and Valkyrie left the island state of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) on Thursday and was en route to St. Lucia when the tragic accident occurred.

“Moments after the plane took off, problems were encountered after which the plane fell into the sea,” say investigators.

The 51-year-old actor died together with his daughters, Madita (10) and Annik (12).

The plane’s owner and pilot, identified as the American Robert Sachs, also died in the accident.

According to a statement from the Royal SVG Police Force, local divers and fishermen from Paget Farm on the small island of Bequia went to the scene to provide assistance.

The SVG Coast Guard also responded and “recovered from the sea” all four victims’ bodies. They were transported to Saint Vincent where post-mortem examinations will be carried out in the coming days.

Representatives for Klepser said in a statement that their “thoughts and prayers are with him, his two daughters and his family”.

The cause of the accident has not yet been determined.

The Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority told CBS News, the BBC’s US partner, that they were “currently gathering information to assist with the investigation”.

The US State Department said it was providing “all appropriate consular assistance” to the families of the victims.

Klepser also starred in the Steven Soderbergh film The Good German appeared, and the role of a detective in two seasons of the popular German series Alarm for Cobra 11 interpret.

He was also featured in the Netflix series Sense8 and has done voice acting for several video games.
