German teenager stabs classmates, then himself

A teenage boy from Germany is in critical condition (and in custody) after stabbing five classmates and then himself with a knife on Thursday.

The attack took place this morning at the Wilhelm-Dörpfeld high school in the city of Wuppertal in western Germany.

According to the police, the 17-year-old attacker suffered “life-threatening injuries” during the attack.

His classmates suffered less serious injuries.

According to a spokesman for the German police, the school sent out a message to parents earlier today to inform them that the attacker was a 17-year-old pupil who had experienced a manic-depressive episode.

However, the exact details of the attack are still unknown.
