Golf: Branden shines, so does the rest of the Stinger team

The South African Stinger golf team, which plays in the LIV golf series, is on its way to pouring a few more million US dollars into their bank accounts after Branden Grace, Dean Burmester and Charl Schwartzel advanced in the second round of the Greenbrier tournament shot.

The Stinger team is in second place at -30 and just four shots behind Torque (-34).

The Crusher team, HyFlyers, Range Goats and Smash are joint third at -26.

Grace (-10) is sixth and just two shots behind leaders David Puig and Matthew Wolffe (-12) with Talor Gooch, Richard Bland and Bryson DeChambeau (all three at -11) tied for third.

Burmester finished at -9, Schwartzel at -8 and Louis Oosthuizen at -5 in the clubhouse.

* In the American PGA Series’ Wyndham Championship played at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, Americans Billy Horschel and Lucas Glover (both 192, -18) are one stroke ahead of compatriot Russell Henley (193, -17 ) with Byeong-Hun An of Korea fourth at 194 (-15), followed by Stephan Jaeger of Germany at 197 (-13).

South Africa’s Christiaan Bezuidenhout filled in scores of 69, 68 and 69 on his scorecard and is in 43rd position at 213 (-4).

* On Dundonald Left Course in Irvine, French player Celine Boutier (203, -13) leads three shots ahead of Thailand’s Paphangkorn Tavatanakit and Sweden’s Maja Stark (both 206, -10) after the third round of the Women’s Scottish Open .

They are followed on 207 (-9) by Madalene Sagstroem (Sweden) with Nicole Broch Estrup (Austria), Sarah Kemp (Australia), Hinako Shibuno (Japan) and Caroline Hedwall (Sweden) all together on 208 (-7) .

South Africa’s Paula Reto is on 217 (+1), followed by Lee-Anne Pace and Casandra Alexander both on 219 (+3).
