Hollywood: Baby news for these two stars; Olivia Munn shares cancer diagnosis

RNews offers you a summary of the week’s latest international entertainment news.

Baby news for these two stars

The High School Musical-actress Vanessa Hudgens and Princess Diana’s nephew, Lady Kitty Spencer, are each entering a new phase in their lives this year.

Vanessa (35) surprised people with a baby bump during this year’s Oscar awards event. She has kept the news about her pregnancy quiet until now, and has followed in the footsteps of stars such as Rihanna and Beyoncé by making an unexpected public announcement.

She married baseball player Cole Tucker in December 2023.

It wasn’t just Vanessa who kept her pregnancy a secret; Lady Kitty kept her pregnancy a complete secret. This royal nephew announced earlier this week that she was not only pregnant, but had already become a mother.

“It is the happiness of my life to be your mommy. I love you unconditionally,” read Kitty’s Mother’s Day message on Instagram. This pinkie is a long-awaited nephew of the Prince and Princess of Wales’s children, George, Charlotte and Louis, as well as of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s two children, Archie and Lilibet.

She married South African entrepreneur Michael Lewis in Rome, Italy in July 2021.

Olivia Munn, Christie Brinkley share cancer diagnosis

The 43-year-old actress Olivia Munn announced earlier this week that she was diagnosed with breast cancer last year and that in the past ten months she has undergone four procedures, including a double mastectomy.

“I am happy. We caught it early enough, I had options,” said the Newsroom-actress candidly shared on Instagram. She had her genes tested in February 2023 to proactively detect any cancer genes. During the same period, Olivia also had a mammogram done, which showed no abnormalities. However, her doctor insisted that she go for a mammogram again soon after, and she was diagnosed with an aggressive type of breast cancer.

She encourages women to go for regular breast examinations and a mammogram.

“Ask your doctor to do a breast cancer risk assessment. If the risk is higher than 20%, you should go for a mammogram annually as soon as you turn 30.”

The 70-year-old supermodel Christie Brinkley in turn announced earlier this week that she had been diagnosed with skin cancer.

“The good news for me was that it was caught quickly,” she shared on Instagram.

“And the good news for you is that you can avoid this by faithfully applying sunblock every day.”

Along with that, she encouraged people to go for regular skin checks, and not to be shy about sunblock, protective clothing or hats.

“From now on I wear lots of sun block, long sleeves and a big hat!”

Kelly Clarkson on her way to the Olympics

The 41-year-old “Since U Been Gone” singer Kelly Clarkson will be in Paris in July – and not for vacation.

Kelly will co-host the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympics with NFL star Peyton Manning and NBC sports anchor Mike Tirico.

This news was on the late night talk show earlier this week The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon made known.

“I am delighted that we can finally share the news. We’ve been keeping the secret for so long, and I hate secrets,” said an upbeat Kelly.

The opening ceremony will take place on July 26 this year in Paris, and will look quite different from previous years. This year they boast not only sports presenters, but also Hollywood celebrities who will be part of the proceedings. Along with that, the ceremony will not take place in a stadium as usual, but along the Seine river. The athletes will wave along the river on boats to the spectators.

‘Desperate Housewives’ star receives prestigious award

Eva Longoria, who is best known for her long-running role in the drama series Desperate Housewives will soon receive a prize worth $50 million (about R935 million) for her welfare work.

This prize is awarded annually by the multi-millionaire Jeff Bezos and rewards individuals who serve society in an exceptional way.

The Eva Longoria Foundation opened in 2012 and since then has been working to support and empower Latin American women in the US with entrepreneurial skills.
