RNews offers you a summary of this week’s latest international entertainment news.

Wedding bells are ringing for ‘Spice Girl’

Mel B and Princess Diana now have something in common.

This 48-year-old former member of the British pop group, Spice Girls, will soon marry in the St. Paul’s Cathedral. The very cathedral where the late Princess Diana and King Charles III stood in front of the pulpit in 1981.

Not only can anyone get married in this prestigious cathedral, but because Mel was inaugurated as a member of the British Empire (MBE) in 2022, she has permission to use it.

“I received an MBE for my welfare work,” Mel said during an appearance on the talk show, Today with Hoda & Jennasaid earlier this week.

Mel announced in October 2022 that she and her boyfriend of three years, Rory McPhee, were engaged. The couple has already applied to live in the St. Paul’s Cathedral to get married, and are currently waiting for an available wedding date.

Mel, who had already been married twice before, said during her appearance on the talk show that she wanted to do the wedding “according to the book”, and that she would like to get married in a church.

In other Spice Girl news, the British postal service will soon issue a set of 15 postage stamps to celebrate the pop group’s 30th birthday. It will be the first time that the Royal Postal Service has dedicated a set of postage stamps to a female pop group.

The stamps will include photos of their performances from 1997 to 2012.

Woman who killed mother now social media star

Gypsy Rose Blanchard was released on parole last month after serving 8 and a half of her 10-year sentence for murdering her mother. She was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2016 after pleading guilty to the murder of her mother, Dee Dee. Her accomplice and then boyfriend whom she met online, Nicholas Godejohn, was also found guilty in 2019 and is currently serving a life sentence.

Who is Gypsy Rose?

Gypsy’s story gained particular notoriety when it came to light that Gypsy had been subjected to medical abuse for years. Although Gypsy was supposedly a healthy child, her mother forced her to pretend for years that she was suffering from serious and fatal illnesses, such as leukemia. For this, Dee Dee even shaved off her daughter’s hair and forced her to use a feeding tube.

Dee Dee repeatedly took Gypsy to doctors and hospitals with various stories about health ailments. In the decades Gypsy was in her mother’s care, she was diagnosed with asthma, muscular dystrophy and hearing problems. She underwent several operations, and also used a wheelchair for a while.

Numerous documentaries, movies and series have already been made about Gypsy’s life, including the movie, Mommy Dead and Dearestand the Hulu series, The Act, in which Joey King played the role of Gypsy. In the latest documentary, The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchardshe makes a string of claims about her growing up with her mother.

In an interview with People about this documentary, Gypsy admitted that she regrets killing her mother.

“Nobody will ever hear me say that I’m glad she’s dead, or that I’m proud of what I did. I regret it every single day of my life.”

Growing up, Gypsy realized that she did not suffer from all the ailments her mother claimed. Today, she describes their relationship as one that was “filled with abuse,” and also says that Dee Dee physically abused her in her teenage years.

“I tried my best to be respectful, but it was difficult. She often scolded and cursed at me. She often beat me.

“As long as you don’t oppose her, everything is fine. When you put your foot down, things get worse.”

Since Gypsy’s release, she has started gaining attention on social media, and already has millions of followers on platforms such as Facebook and TikTok. She has also already granted several interviews.

Today, Gypsy realizes that her mother did not deserve what was due to her.

“She was a sick woman and unfortunately I was not informed enough to notice it. She deserved to sit where I sat, in prison for criminal behavior.”

Movies made about these celebrities

Lovers of biographical films can feel free to prick up their ears: there are movies about Bob Dylan, Amy Winehouse and Linda Ronstadt on the way.

It was confirmed earlier this week that Selena Gomez will play the role of the Mexican singer, Linda Ronstadt, in a biographical film.

Linda is known for songs like “Blou Bayou”, “Desperado” and “Tracks of My Tears”. She is 77 years old today, and recently said goodbye to the stage when she was diagnosed with a rare disease that affects her body and especially her voice.

The Wonkaactor, Timothée Chalamet, will fill the shoes of Bob Dylan. It was already announced in 2020 that Timothée will play the role of Bob in a biographical film. Filming is expected to begin early this year.

Timothée recently admitted in an interview with Josh Horowitz that he had used the last few years to properly prepare himself for the role. To help him further, Timothée received about 12 hours of music from the musician, which has never been released before.

“It feels like I’m in possession of gold,” said Timothée.

The third biographical film that people can look forward to is the one about Amy Winehouse.

The British actress, Marisa Abela, a newcomer to Hollywood, plays the role of Amy Back to Black. The film will already hit the silver screen on May 10 this year.
