Will and Jada have been separated from bed and table for seven years
Although Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith have put on a united front for the past few years, this Hollywood couple has been estranged from each other since 2016.
Jada makes this shocking revelation in her memoir, Worthy, which will hit shelves later this month. However, earlier this week during an in-depth interview with Hoba Kotb of the Today Show admits that she and Will have been separated from bed and table for almost a decade.
This estranged couple already decided to part ways in 2016, and although they still looked like a happily married couple afterwards, it was just a front that they presented.
“We are still trying to figure out between the two of us how to be in a partnership, and how we are going to present it to people. We just haven’t gotten it right yet,” Jada said during the interview.
“By the time we got to 2016, we were tired of trying. I think we were both caught up in the fantasy of what we wanted the other to be.”
They had already considered a divorce, but Jada struggled with breaking the promise they made to each other on their wedding day in 1997.
Although they are no longer romantically linked, Will still made headlines when he defended her against Chris Rock’s jokes about her skin condition, Alopecia, during the 2022 Academy Awards event.
Jada is still stunned by the blow that Will inflicted on Chris that night.
“I thought it was an insert (skit). Only when he sat down again did I realize that it was serious.”
