Seven hospital employees were hijacked on Thursday when they were being transported to their homes in Cottonlands, KwaZulu-Natal.
Reaction Unit South Africa received a call from a detective captain at the provincial office in Durban with a request for assistance in locating the victims. “The police provided very limited information about the incident,” Rusa said in a statement.
Rusa officers deployed to the area and located the victims at a gas station in Vincent Dickinson Road in Cottonlands at around 14:30.
“The driver of the vehicle said he was transporting staff from Osindisweni State Hospital home when they were stopped by a dark red colored Toyota Quest (number plate unknown). Two suspects hijacked the Nissan NV 350 vehicle and drove away with the staff. The victims were later dropped off on a dirt road and the hijackers fled in an unknown direction.”
The staff walked to the gas station where Rusa located them.
