More than 700 Airbus Atlantic staff in France fell ill after the company’s annual Christmas dinner, health authorities said Friday.

Airbus Atlantic, a subsidiary of the aviation group Airbus, employs around 15,000 people in five countries.

Staff attended the dinner in Montoir-de-Bretagne, near the northwestern city of Nantes. The Agence Régionale de Santé (ARS) health authority said they “showed signs of vomiting and diarrhoea”.

The menu of the meal has not been announced.

ARS confirmed to AFP that an investigation has been launched to locate the source of the mass food poisoning.

The Airbus group, a European consortium, is one of the world’s largest aircraft manufacturers with around 134,000 workers.
