Israeli soldiers shoot dead Palestinian militants in hospital

Israeli secret agents walked into a hospital in the occupied West Bank on Tuesday and shot dead three Palestinian militants.

The militants were said to be hiding in the Ibn Sina Hospital in Jenin, one of the most volatile cities in the West Bank, when they were shot dead.

The Israeli army says a “Hamas terrorist cell” was targeted during the operation.

CCTV footage of the military operation shows heavily armed men and women – disguised as medical staff and Muslim women – moving through the hospital’s corridors before entering a room and apparently shooting the militants dead.

One of the agents carries a baby carrier while another is pushed in a wheelchair.

According to Naji Nazzal, director of the hospital, a “group of disguised Israeli forces entered the facility and killed the men”.

The three militants have since been identified by the official Palestinian news agency Wafa as Muhammad Jalamnah, Muhammad Ayman Ghazawi and Basel Ayman Ghazawi.

“The operation was carried out at the hospital’s rehabilitation department where Basel Ghazawi was undergoing treatment,” said Nazzal.

The secret agents also reportedly used firearms that were equipped with silencers.

The Palestinian Department of Foreign Affairs described the “horrific” incident as a “crime against humanity”, while the Palestinian Department of Health reminded people that healthcare facilities enjoy special protection under international law.

“The minister of health makes an urgent appeal to the United Nations General Assembly, international institutions and human rights organizations to end the daily series of crimes committed by the occupation (of Israel) against our people and health centers,” the health department said.

The Ghazawi brothers were believed to be fighters for the Islamic Jihad militant group. According to Hamas, Jalamnah was a “commander” in its armed wing.

However, the Israeli army labeled them as three “terrorists” who were hiding in the hospital.

According to the military, Jalamnah was involved in “significant terrorist activities” and was known to distribute weapons and ammunition for use in attacks.

Jalamnah apparently “planned to carry out a terrorist attack (similar to the October 7 attack on Israel) in the immediate future and used the hospital as a hiding place and was therefore neutralized”, the army said.

After the attacks, weapons were placed on the bodies of the Ghazawi brothers while they were carried in a funeral procession through the streets of Jenin.

In the midst of the conflict, the Israeli army has already carried out several raids and airstrikes in Jenin.
