Novak Djokovic will cross rackets with Carlos Alcaraz in the semi-final of the ATP Finals in Turin later today.

The 20-year-old Spaniard beat Daniil Medvedev 6-4 6-4 to set up the mouth-watering encounter.

“I hope the match will be a repeat of what happened on the main court of Wimbledon. I’m going to try to be my best. Against a player of Novak’s caliber you have to be very strong mentally and I will have to start my preparation as soon as possible,” said Alcaraz.

The Spanish crown prince of tennis earlier beat Djokovic 1-6, 7-6, 6-1, 3-6 and 6-4 in a titanic Wimbledon final, but the Serbian paid him back in his own coin when he beat him in the final of won the ATP Masters in Cincinnati.

“I sincerely hope that Novak will also fire on all pistons. We are in the semi-finals of the ATP Finals; a tournament he has already won six times. He therefore knows how to approach these types of matches and he will no doubt rely on his experience to pull through.”

Alcaraz expects Djokovic to come up with his usual tricks: He will put his opponent under pressure with relentless play.

“I will simply have to be ready for it.”

In the other semi-final, Jannik Sinner takes on Daniil Medvedev.
