Jake thinks Bulls can hang signs

Willem Strauss, president of the Blue Bulls Rugby Union, announced via WhatsApp on Wednesday morning that 32,000 tickets for this weekend’s derby in Cape Town have already been snapped up.

The Stormers and the Bulls play against each other at the DHL Stadium on Saturday at 19:00 and the Pretorianians will throw everything into the battle to hang up the signs against the home team.

After all, they don’t just win a game against the Stormers these days.

In the last six United Rugby Championship matches, the Capetians have not once been on the losing side against the rugby cream of the Jakaranda city.

But, says Jake White, this Bulls group is good enough to pull a winning rabbit out of the hat; even on the DHL Stadium.

According to the Pretorians’ director of rugby, the team’s depth can now play a decisive role.

“We try to rotate the players regularly and hopefully we will be able to choose a fit and fresh match group for the weekend; we know it’s a huge game waiting for us,” said White.

The Bulls (third place) currently enjoy a lead of seven points over the Stormers (tenth place) in the official HRC standings.

White believes that his players have been persuaded to increase this lead.

“We maintain a positive mindset and the players are excited about the game. Yes, we have already lost a few games against them, but at some point things should count in our favor again.”

The Stormers may have lost a number of games in the run-up to the latest version of the HRC series, but last weekend’s good win against La Rochelle will give their confidence a definite boost.

The match starts at 19:00 on Saturday and the action will be broadcast live on SuperSport.
