This is how Janie Bay talks about the theme of her new song, “Die einde”, a track she released together with Elandré.
Janie has been with her partner, Deon Dee, for almost a decade this year. She admits that they went through a challenging period as a couple, something she believes dozens of couples also experience.
The song’s meaning lies in the decision to spend the rest of your life with someone. This is something that needs to be properly reflected on, she believes, and the moment you realize that this is the right love and life path, the enlightenment should wash over you.
Janie admits that vulnerability through music has always been attractive to her.
“This theme is not abnormal, it happens in so many different relationships. It is not only always a bad period. Decisions about the future must be made in every relationship.”
“Deon and I are comfortable sharing our lives with people, and in song form it’s just more universal. A lot of people will be able to relate to that.”
Janie wrote “Die einde” already in 2021, and admits that the song has been brewing for a while now. However, she already knew then that she would like to sing the song with Elandré.
“When I work with another artist, I want that person to feel as at home in the song as I do,” explained Janie.
So she recorded the song, produced it, and sent it to Elandré to mull over, although he suggested few changes and almost immediately agreed to be part of the project.
“I have an incredible amount of respect for Elandré, we get along well and had a great time during the recording of the song.”
