Emergency service personnel from Emer-G-Med were called to a supermarket in Johannesburg at around 09:00 on Wednesday after a man became entangled in a meat grinder in the supermarket’s butchery.

Kyle van Reenen, spokesperson for Emer-G-Med, says several advanced life-support intervention methods were needed to stabilize the man, believed to be in his 30s, before he was carefully rescued from the meat grinder by Gauteng EMS Rescue.

When he was free, the decision was made to transport him with the help of the Netcare911 helicopter to a specialist facility for the specific care he needs,” says Van Reenen.
