Listen: Old music friends together again this year on the Krone stage

Kurt Darren, Elizma Theron and Nicholis Louw, three of the country’s biggest Afrikaans artists, are standing together again this year as usual on the prestigious Krone stage.

Not only have these three artists been part of the music industry for more than two decades, but they are also good friends who have been part of the “saamsing jol” every year since 2013, which attracts thousands of spectators every year.

The Krone concert series has gone from strength to strength since its opening year, so much so that this prestigious concert will find its home at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria this year, and this time concertgoers get a 360-degree experience of this massive musical production.

“It’s incredible to see how the concert series has grown from the beginning to now,” the three musical friends agree during a studio interview with RNews.

“There was a polystyrene crown at the back of the stage with a few steps, and the first year we improvised a lot and learned so much. This time we know what we are doing,” says Elizma with a laugh.

According to Kurt, it was the dream from day one to hold the concert in a stadium. “A 360-degree experience awaits concertgoers.”

The tickets for the show are selling like hotcakes and a large percentage of the tickets are already sold out.

“With the state of this concert (its ticket sales), one can see that the Afrikaner supports his artists. The field is sold out as well as one of the stands.”

According to Kurt, the east pavilion still has ample seats available. “The east pavilion is always sold out last for rugby matches because the sun bothers people in that place. However, this concert takes place in the evening and in my opinion this will be the best place to sit during the concert.”

A total of 22 of Afrikaans’ most popular artists come together for one night on one massive stage to deliver an unforgettable show in the heart of the city of Jakaranda.

Bernice West, Juan Boucher, Eloff, Liezel Pieters, Nicholis Louw, Elizma Theron, Reën, Barto, Leah, Dirk van der Westhuizen, Jan Jan Jan, Prop, Christia Visser, Refentse, Appel, Brendan Peyper, Kurt Darren, Juanita du Plessis , Snotkop, Ricus Nel and Elandré join forces this year for a Krone concert that will be on everyone’s lips.

“I think Eloff is my favorite young artist. He’s just a nice guy. Even Barto is such a pleasant guy. People are going to enjoy him so much. Bernice also has a uniqueness about her and it’s so nice to have her there,” says the trio.

Crowns at Loftus takes place on Saturday 19 August at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria. Tickets and parking tickets can be purchased here. Concertgoers can also enter to win a break to the Nkomazi Lodge just outside Badplaas or a cabin on the Krone boat trip 2024. The winners of the competitions are announced on stage during the show.
