After phase 1 load shedding was initially to apply throughout the day on Friday, Eskom has now suspended it from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
A long weekend lies ahead, with Heritage Day celebrated on Monday.
The power supplier now says there is a reduced demand for electricity and breakdowns stand at 13,445 MW of generating capacity.
Phase 2 load shedding will be introduced at 16:00 on Friday and will continue at this stage until 05:00 on Saturday.
Eskom will announce the load shedding outlook for the weekend this afternoon.
