An extensive search was launched by the police after a regional magistrate in the Free State and her husband disappeared without a trace.
Mamello Thamae (40), regional magistrate on Heilbron, and her husband, Lehlohonolo Maketoane (40), have been missing since Friday morning.
According to Capt. Loraine Earle, police spokesperson, apparently Thamae arrived at her home in Heilbron on Thursday evening.
“It is claimed that her car left the yard again around 04:00 on Friday.”
Clothes and a mobile phone belonging to Maketoane are missing from the house while Thamae’s mobile phone and clothes are still in the house.
The couple were presumably driving a silver colored Kia Sportage with registration number HYT 809 FS. According to Earle, there is a strong suspicion that the vehicle passed through the border post at Ficksburg.
