Man apparently hires killer for his wife

A 45-year-old man from Polokwane in Limpopo was arrested on Saturday on charges that he wanted to kill his wife.

“Members of the police’s provincial tracking team and the murder and robbery unit received information about a man who is allegedly planning to kill his wife,” says Brig. Hlulani Mashaba, spokesperson for the police.

The police gathered information about the suspect and raided the place where the man agreed with the hit man to pay part of the amount for the murder.

The man undertook to pay R5 000 as part of the agreed R15 000. “The police were able to intervene and arrested him immediately after the cash payment was made.”

The suspect, said to be a teacher, was arrested and remains in custody for conspiracy to commit murder.

“The motive for the killing is not yet known, but gender-based violence cannot be ruled out,” Mashaba added.

The man is expected to appear in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
