A 75-year-old man from Kirkwood in the Eastern Cape was attacked in the early hours of Saturday morning by three men with balaclavas, when he opened the door for his dogs to go out.

Col. Police spokesperson Priscilla Naidu says the men entered the house and demanded firearms and cash. They hit the man over the head and tied him up with a cable tie. He was home alone.

The man’s neighbor, whose name has not been released, contacted the Seven Fountains police station in Mkhanda around 08:30 and informed them of the incident.

The men fled with firearms and jewelry.
