Maxwell does it again

Australia needed 43 runs from the last two overs to clinch its T20 match against India in Guwahati.

Thanks to Glenn Maxwell and Matthew Wade’s batting prowess, the Aussies only scored 22 runs from the 19th over and then 21 runs from the last over.

The visitors hit the winning runs in the last delivery of the game and Maxwell once again pulled his team’s wagon through the run chase.

The batsman has now smashed 104 unbeaten runs from just 48 balls and his four consecutive boundaries off Prasidh Krishna’s bowling left the Indian crowd speechless.

This is the most runs scored off the final over to win an international T20 match.

“We told ourselves that we still had a chance; one never knows when good timing can swing the momentum scale in your direction,” Maxwell said when quizzed on his heroics.

The 35-year-old caught the imagination of the cricket world during the World Cup when he smashed 201 unbeaten runs against Afghanistan.

Many analysts labeled it as the best ODI innings ever when he literally smashed one boundary after another on one leg to win the match for his team.
