Meryl Streep, the Oscar-winning actress, and her husband, the sculptor Don Gummer, have been separated for six years.
Streep (74), who has already taken home an Oscar statuette three times, and Gummer (76) were married in 1978, and are celebrating their 45th wedding anniversary this year.
The news was announced on Saturday in a statement by a representative of the couple People confirm.
Page Six however, was the first to report on this news on Friday.
“Don Gummer and Meryl Streep have been separated for more than six years, and while they will always care for each other, they have chosen to live separate lives,” the rep said.
They are the parents of four adult children – a son, Henry, and three daughters, Mamie, Grace and Louisa.
Streep and Gummer were photographed together at the Oscars in March 2018. Although they used to often pose for pictures together, they largely keep their personal lives out of the media.
However, Streep was recently spotted with her wedding ring on her finger at an awards event in Spain.
Originally from Louisville, Kentucky, Gummer met Streep in 1978 through her brother. She then just lost her boyfriend, fellow actor John Cazale, to death from lung cancer.
