Norris believes he is on Verstappen’s heels

There is still a lot of racing water to run in the F1 sea, but Lando Norris has been persuaded to make things as difficult as possible for Max Verstappen.

The McLaren racer just waved the scepter in Miami as he finished just 0.725s behind the defending world champion in the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix last weekend.

Even so, Verstappen still enjoys a healthy lead in the drivers’ standings, but anything can still happen. After all, there are still 17 races waiting for F1 fans.

“It’s about time someone put Max under a bit of pressure again; I think he hasn’t been on his nerves for a long time,” Norris said in an interview with SkySports.

However, the British racing driver added that one cannot underestimate Verstappen – after all, the checkered flag has been waved for the Red Bull star five times this year.

“I don’t want to sound arrogant, but we want to take on Ferrari and Red Bull with confidence; I believe we can hold a candle for them.”

The streets of Monte Carlo are the playground of the F1 racing cars this weekend and according to Norris the Monaco Grand Prix is extremely unpredictable.

“I’m tired of underestimating McLaren’s ability. So we are going to be positive behind the wheel and hopefully we can also build on our recent success in Monaco.

“Yes, if you look at history, it’s not our best track at all, but anything is possible.”
