Novak Djokovic is through to another Grand Slam semi-final after defeating Taylor Fritz in the quarter-finals of the US Open.

On a hot day, the Serbian finished the match with 6-1, 6-4 and 6-4 to win his 30th victory in a row against American opponents.

“The humidity levels were very high and it was difficult for both of us to be at our best. Yet we train for games like this; to put ourselves in a position to win a match in tough conditions. It’s not easy, but you have to fight for it,” said Djokovic.

The 36-year-old player is on track to win his fourth title in New York after also walking away with the laurels in 2011, 2015 and 2018.

He will next face another American, Ben Shelton.

In the women’s section, Coco Gauff qualified for her first US Open semi-final after beating Jelena Ostapenka 6-0, 6-2. It was the young American’s 16th victory in her last 17 matches.

“It was certainly not easy to get here, but I still feel fresh and ready for any challenge. I’m proud of the way I’ve approached every game so far,” Gauff said.
